High school sports roundup: Tournament results from across Delaware

It was a busy Thursday for high school athletes across Delaware.

Champions were crowned in tennis and lacrosse, and baseball semifinals determined which teams move forward to the finals.

Here's a rundown of the events:

Baseball: Appoquinimink blanks St. Mark's to reach final

Evan Bouldin pitched his second straight state tournament shutout to lead defending champion Appoquinimink to a 3-0 victory over St. Mark’s in the semifinals of the DIAA Baseball Tournament on Thursday.

Baseball: DMA beats Caravel, earns first trip to title game

Delaware Military Academy let a 1-0 lead slip away in the top of the seventh inning, but rallied for two runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 win over Caravel Academy in the other semifinal of the DIAA Baseball Tournament on Thursday.

Drew Simpson's single in the bottom of the seventh plated the winning run and sent the Seahawks into their first state championship game, where they will face Appoquinimink on Saturday.

Tennis: Dover girls, Tower Hill boys repeat as state champions

The Dover girls and Tower Hill boys tennis teams had to wait an extra year to defend their team championships from the 2019 DIAA Tennis Tournament after COVID-19 wiped out the entire 2020 season.

The wait didn't seem to bother either team as both capped off strong regular seasons by once again winning the state team titles Thursday.

Girls lacrosse: Cape Henlopen beats Tatnall to extend state title streak

Cape Henlopen won its 12th straight DIAA Girls Lacrosse Tournament title and 153rd straight game against Delaware high school teams, beating Tatnall 17-10 at Dover High School.

But it didn't come easy against a Tatnall team that hadn't lost this season and clawed its way back into the game in the second half.

Boys lacrosse: Salesianum knocks off Cape Henlopen in state final

After almost two years of waiting, Salesianum unleashed some pent-up frustration in the DIAA Boys Lacrosse Tournament final on Thursday night, beating Salesianum 12-10 in a rematch of the 2019 championship game at Dover High School
