Teen BMW driver dies one day after crashing car into a tree near Millsboro

A 19-year-old man died on Wednesday — one day after losing control of his BMW and striking a tree near Millsboro, Delaware State Police said.

The man's name is being withheld pending family notification.

The Millsboro-area man was driving a BMW 328 west on Friendship Road about 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police said. As he passed Independence Drive, the driver lost control of the car, left the roadway and drove over wet grass until he hit a tree, police said.

The man, who police said was not properly restrained, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. He died the following day.
