Move over coffee beer, Wawa's new brew is a strawberry lemonade shandy. It's coming soon.

Perhaps it's taken 2½ years for the buzz to wear off, but Wawa is finally revealing its second beer release.

Wawa's newest brew is a strawberry lemonade shandy called Sunfest. And just like 2018's Wawa Reserve Winter Blend, it was made in collaboration with 2SP Brewing Co. in Aston, Pennsylvania.

That's right — it's officially going to be a Cold Beer Summer for the beloved convenience store chain.

Wawa's new Sunfest beer, a strawberry lemonade shandy, will be available in Delaware liquor stores later this week.

Instead of using Wawa coffee in the recipe, this time the limited quantity release will be made with Wawa strawberry lemonade.

The 4% ABV Sunfest will land on Delaware liquor store shelves Monday following a string of promotional events this week. The beer will debut on Thursday at a few select Pennsylvania shops that sell alcohol, and it will flow for the first time at 2SP Brewing on Saturday.

FLASHBACK:Wawa coffee beer is now a thing, and this is how you can get the limited edition brew

A six-pack of Sunfest will cost $8.99. And in addition to Delaware liquor stores, it will be available in southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Eastern Shore Maryland beer retailers.

Sunfest, the new Wawa/2SP Brewing collaborative beer, is a strawberry lemonade shandy made with Wawa lemonade.

"The collaborative approach to the Sunfest beer was to find that balance of upfront strawberry sweetness with a refreshing lemon citrus finish that comes from the lemonade," said Michael Contreras, director of sales and marketing for 2SP Brewing.

With the new release, Wawa also announced that it now has six Pennsylvania stores that sell beer and wine. In addition to established booze-friendly spots in Chadds Ford and Middletown, alcohol is also now available in Emmaus, Blakeslee, Horsham and in Philadelphia at 2600 Penrose Ave.

When Wawa and 2SP teamed up in 2018, it was the first beer in Wawa's then-54-year history. But the 16-ounce yellow cans filled with sweet clove, dark chocolate and graham cracker flavors never made it across the state line into Delaware. It was available only in five Pennsylvania counties: Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester and Philadelphia.

In 2018, beer and Wawa lovers waited for hours to be the first to try Wawa Winter Reserve Coffee Stout.

While Sunfest will make it to First State store shelves this time, it will not be sold at the brewery's Two Stones Pub locations in Delaware.

Launch events include Thursday's party at 4 p.m. at a Philadelphia Wawa store (2600 Penrose Ave.) with a ceremonial first pour, samples and beach-themed giveaways. On Saturday at noon, 2SP Brewing Co. (120 Concord Road, Aston) will host its own beach-themed bash in Delco with boardwalk-style games, a mechanical surfboard, live music and food trucks.

The 2018 coffee brew idea was hatched when Contreras and a couple of other guys at the brewery were trying different Wawa coffee blends. They decided to pick up the phone and pitch their idea with the resulting partnership still going strong.

"We reached out and they came through," he said at the time. "I was amazed."
