Chick-fil-A is planning a new restaurant in Newark as two other locations prepare to open in Delaware later this year.

The latest Chick-fil-A is being planned at the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder facility on Ogletown Road. The firehouse and banquet hall closed last year. The Newark Post first reported the new location.

The Newark restaurant, if approved, will join locations expected to open later this year in the Prices Corner shopping center on Kirkwood Highway and on Route 40 near New Castle.

Chick-fil-A could be replacing the Aetna firehouse and banquet hall on Ogletown Road in Newark.

PREVIOUS REPORTING: Two new Chick-fil-A locations coming soon to Delaware

The Route 40 location is expected to open this spring. Chick-fil-A and Starbucks are taking the place of the former Dutch Inn south of Route 273 and near Panda Express, Chipotle and Wawa.

Deborah Mills Houston of Robbins Property Management, which is overseeing the redevelopment of the Prices Corner shopping center, said she expects the center's Chick-fil-A to open in late summer. It will be in one of two pad sites being built in place of the Sears Auto Center adjacent to a new Target.

Chick-fil-A and Chase Bank will occupy this space in the Prices Corner Shopping Center as Target nears its opening date, seen Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

The Newark Post reported the Newark location would have a 94-seat dining room as well as two drive-thru lanes and a small outdoor seating area. According to plans filed with the city of Newark, the drive-thru lanes form a u-shape behind the restaurant away from the road, instead of wrapping around it.

The Chick-fil-A is being planned next to SpringHill Suites and across from a post office building and Wawa.

The area behind the building will be used for Chick-fil-A's two drive-thru lanes.

"While we are still early in the process, Chick-fil-A is happy to share that we are actively pursuing a new location in Newark," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to working through the approval process with the City of Newark and are excited by the prospect of joining this community."
